MYJO has been described as one of the world’s top young jazz orchestras. It has been a winner in the BBC National Big Band Competition every permissible year since 1986, initially in the Youth Section, but latterly in the Senior Section. In 2000 and 2006, it also won the Dutch National Competition. In Toronto, it received a standing ovation from some of the 6500 delegates in the IAJE Conference.

MYJO is widely travelled, including Miami, Russia (where it performed on State TV to a potential audience of 200 million people) and many parts of Europe. In the UK, venues include Ronnie Scott’s Club, and the Royal Albert Hall, London.

*Guests include the great Benny Carter, Bob Florence, Rob McConnell, Arturo Sandoval, Georgie Fame, Elaine Delmar, Jeff Hooper and Lee Gibson. The band has recorded CD’s with Bobby Shew and Lanny Morgan. Its repertoire is extensive and covers the whole range of big band music, producing an exciting and entertaining concert.
