Big Band of The Karol Lipiński Academy of Music

The history of Big Band of The Karol Lipiński Academy of Music goes back to the middle 90’, when the Academy set up Jazz Department. The story of the band is full of concerts with great Polish jazz musicians including Maciej Sikała, Piotr Baron, Piotr Wojtasik, Henryk Miśkiewicz, Adam Makowicz and many others.

The big band plays in the standard 16-person ensemble, and plays repertoire consisting of standards and other pieces composed and arranged especially for this ensemble. Prizes bestowed upon the ensemble from various competitions confirm its high performance level.

From 2015 the ensamble is conducted by Bartosz Pernal – jazz trombone player, composer and arranger.  In February 2016 the big band supported The Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra & Wynton Marsalis during concert in Narodowe Forum Muzyki, Wocław.
